Did you know: The peach tree is often considered to be the tree of life. Georgia is the Peach State, although California produces about 50% of the USA peaches. The peach pit contains hydrocyanic acid which is a poisonous substance. Since it does not taste good, most people are unlikely to eat it.

Did you know: Peaches, along with cherries, plums and apricots, are stone fruits. They are called “stone fruit” because of the hard pits surrounding their seeds. The peach is a member of the rose family and is a close relative of almonds. China is the world’s leading producer of peaches accounting for about half of world production.

Can you draw a nectarine next to a peach?

Did you know: Peaches and nectarines are the exact same fruit. The only difference is a peach has a fuzzy exterior and a nectarine’s skin is smooth.
