Did you know: It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris. There are 260 to 300 species of iris.

The Louisiana, a variety of beardless iris, is native to the United States, and is found wild on the Gulf Coast. The “beard” on a bearded iris is a fuzzy appendage located above the falls, or lower petals.
